Room 4

Welcome to Room 4

My name is Pauline Doody I  have an inspirational class of Year 1 students who are just so keen to learn.  In 2011 Room 4 began the  year with 15 students and we will enroll a further 15 children throughout the year.  We offer a warm and supportive environment for the children to learn.
We have  a very supportive relationship with our local Playcentre and Blue Goose Pre School which are both situated  close to our school boundaries. The four year olds make regular visits to Room 4 to join us for story time, this supports  a smooth transition to school. 
In Room 4 we celebrate our School Values of 'Partnership', 'Quality' and 'Respect', we look forward to receiving the school tokens that reward us for using these values around the school. We get excited if our token is drawn out of the token draw at our school assemblies.  Then we get to choose a prize from the prize box.
In Room 4  our major focus is on Literacy and Numeracy.  
In Term 1 this year we are studying 'Transformation' as our big idea for Topic study this will be based around the Science Strand   'Living World'.  We will be observing the Life Cycle of the Monarch Butterfly and reflecting on how we have changed since birth. Towards the end of the term we will travel to the Ashburton Community Pool each morning for a whole week to have swimming lessons. 
Mr. Ellis our Principal enjoys coming into our class, we laugh at his tap dancing. He makes us feel important.
We always look forward to choosing our 'Duffy Books' that are presented to us at the end of Terms 1,2 & 3. We are so lucky.
